Bridgend Farmhouse is a community-owned and run hub in South-East Edinburgh. Since campaigning to take ownership of the land a team of dedicated volunteers help to develop a centre that focuses on creating affordable, interesting and unique opportunities and facilities for local communities that are based on principles of sustainability, solidarity and social inclusion. We have a community cafe and training kitchen, community workshop spaces (DIY; Arts/Crafts; Bike Repair; Outdoor Education); an events and classroom space; meeting rooms; kitchen gardens; Bothy; barns; and more.
We host and support a whole range of activities including; community gardening; building and wood-working, forest skills; cooking; arts; social history; live music; story-telling; natural cosmetics; sustainable design. We are looking to develop a Herbal Clinic on site too and have a holistic social-based model to addressing and challenging health inequalities. Open to all, we are keen to hear from anyone interested in this.
