I studied Herbal Medicine at the excellent College of Phytotherapy in Battle and I completed the degree at University of East London. In that time I had to complete 500 clinic hours which I did at the Battle Clinic, Jackie Saull-Hunts’ Clinic, Julian Barkers Clinic in Brighton, Whipps Cross Hospital and East London Clinic. I wrote my dissertation on the Medicinal Plants of the Isle of Lewis. I studied in Battle and London but I lived in Wales and then on the Isle of Lewis. I now live in Deeside in Aberdeenshire.
Although I learnt the academic and practical skills needed to treat many ailments and conditions through herbs I retained and expanded my knowledge of the plants around us and their uses as food and their nutritional qualities. I enjoy making a lot of my own medicine in the form of tinctures, creams, ointments, tea blends, capsules and syrups. I also love foraging and making food from foraged and wild plants. I have a passion for the nutrition of foraged foods and what that can bring to our kitchens and our health.
I have recently completed the first year of the two year COSCA course in person centred counselling skills through the University of Aberdeen.
